So, the mods keep on arriving even though I need to deal with this gearbox issue. I’m currently awaiting new on weather I must change my gearbox or if its repairable.
If I must change the gearbox then I will be upgrading it to f8X series m4 dct gearbox. Never been done on a e90 platform due to wiring and coding issues but there is always a first! Being that it is essentially the same gearbox housing as the dct in the n54/n55 dct, it should be a straight forward job with fit with a n54 dct flywheel attached. Being that the gearbox lever isn’t mechanically linked to the gearbox, shifter position will not be an issue either. Only downside to that is that I would have to use the shifter from a 335i dct and not the m4 one. I really want my car to be unique and I feel with this it will.
Back to the new purchases, I recently purchased a set of power fold and auto dim wing mirrors from a e92 m3. I have been wanting a pair of these for a little while, I feel they are much better looking than the standard 335i mirrors and will fit the overall project I’m putting together better. I want my car to be subtle and sleek and not outlandish, almost oem plus in the looks department.
I have also purchased some seriously rip your heart out your chest, eyes out of your head, powerful brakes. PB brakes to be precise 8POT!!! 380mm!!! at the front and 6POT!!! 380mm!!! at the back with AP pads and braided hoses all round! these are some seriously powerful brakes which brand new run for over £3000! I have managed to get them for a bargain being they have done less than 1000 miles at half that price. You may be wondering why the large and powerful brakes they wouldn’t be needed for 420bhp, well that because my next upgrades will give me closer to 600bhp...................
